Until I became a dad, I definitely identified as a night owl. These days, as the joke goes, I’m not a night owl, or an early bird, I’m some kind of permanently exhausted pigeon.
For the most part, that was all because I wasn’t getting a good night’s sleep, and that’s so important. While exercise, diet, and mental health all have an impact, your mattress is also very important.
After a few months of having a sore back, and waking feeling tired still, I have to give credit where it’s due: I’m so glad that I upgraded to an Endy mattress.
Why I knew it was time to upgrade my mattress
There are definitely a few signs that you should consider replacing your mattress, and most of them are pretty obvious.
The basic rule is that you should replace your mattress every 10 years, but if you’re also seeing signs of wear or discomfort when you sleep, then it’s likely time to replace it even sooner.
My mattress was getting harder to vacuum, with more dust build up, it warmed up easily when my wife and I were trying to sleep, and I often woke up with a sore back in the morning. When you start seeing a number of signs like this, I’d consider replacing your mattress, too.
Most people need around 7-8 hours of sleep a night, and it adds up quickly when we don’t get enough. After a few days of bad sleep, it’s hard to even function properly for work, or just life in general. You really can’t understate how important a new mattress is, and I was so happy even on the first night with the new mattress.
A Made in Canada mattress

Endy launched in 2015, and they are one of only a few mattress brands that are made in Canada. In an era when a lot of products are made elsewhere, that’s a big deal, and they back it up with a 365-night trail, and a 15 year warranty.
The company has made a name for themselves as a tried and true mattress brand for Canadians, with over 500,000 customers to date and growing. And once you try one of their mattresses, it’s easy to see why they’re so popular.
In Toronto, you can receive your order in a few days, and your new mattress can arrive in about a week across Canada. They even ship to the United States.
What really stands out though is the mattress itself, and it’s very easy to setup, too.
Unboxing a new Endy mattress
My first bed-in-a-box was a number of years ago and I’ll never forget setting it up because it was a little too exciting. You had to cut open the bag and hope you did it right, or it could fly open.
Thankfully, Endy has a much better design and setup was a breeze.
The mattress is lighter than you might expect, and arrives in a pretty small box, considering it’s an entire bed inside. A queen size, medium-firm mattress weighs 59 lbs, making it easy for two people to move it, or one strong person. Cutting open the box you’ll find the rolled up mattress inside that you can pick up, or roll out, and place on your bed frame or box spring.
The plastic wrap unrolls easily, and then you cut off the plastic and watch as the mattress slowly expands. It can take an hour for the mattress to expand, and Endy suggests that it takes up to a week for it to reach the full shape and cushioning. But the first night that I slept on it, I had one of the bests sleeps in months.
Good night, sweet dreams

With the medium-firm queen sized mattress, I also received the Endy organic cotton sheets, duvet, and pillows. They’re a fantastic combination if you want to start fresh.
First off, there’s the mattress. It’s the perfect firmness, as a side-sleeper, while still being a little bit cushy, and it doesn’t heat up much. My last mattress was good for a while, but it always got too hot over night, and I hated that.
On top of that, with the Endy mattress, when my wife or I roll over it doesn’t disturb the other person at all. The mattress absorbs all of that movement for sweet, peaceful dreams. It’s the perfect level of support.
Once I get into bed I usually fall asleep in about 5-10 minutes, and even when I sleep in, my back hasn’t been getting sore, either.
The Everyday pillow has been fantastic, and now I realize that I should have replaced my pillow even sooner. The old pillow was too flat and I couldn’t get comfortable on it unless it was just right. I’ve put my head down most nights on the Endy Everyday pillow and fallen right to sleep.
The sheets are 100% organic cotton, with a 300 thread count, and they’re cool and comfortable. I gave them a wash before I used them, and they fit perfect, and once I crawled into bed, they felt wonderfully fresh and soft. I got everything in Eucalyptus, for a splash of colour, but they have a few great options for colours.
The duvet is ideal for cooler months, or anyone who likes a nice, warm bed. It’s soft and cozy, while still being a mid-weight thickness. The Endy duvet is probably the nicest one that I’ve had.
The cover has loops with snaps on the duvet so they fit together and everything stays in place. My last duvet was a disaster for getting bunched up in places, and even the filling would bunch up.
Anyone can be a morning person
I’m certain that a lot of people feel more like themselves on vacation, not only because they’re sleeping longer, but they’re probably sleeping on better mattresses and pillows than they have at home. That’s probably another sign that it’s time to upgrade your mattress.
Buying a new mattress and pillows pays off immediately, once you start waking up rested and feeling normal again in the morning. I firmly believe that it’s the kind of change that can add years to your life.
While I still struggle being a morning person, if only because I prefer to be a night owl when I can, my Endy mattress has made every day better already. I feel rested, my back feels good, and I can actually fall asleep on time. What more can you ask for?
Endy has four stores that you can visit to check out their mattresses, but if you can’t make it to one, their 365 night trial means you can try it at home, and return it if you’re really not happy.
Thanks to Endy for giving me the chance to try this amazing mattress.
