Denis Villeneuve is one of Canada’s best directors, and to date the Québécois filmmaker has taken on some bold, often massive stories, from Blade Runner 2049, and Arrival, to Sicario, Enemy, and now Dune.

Frank Herbert’s classic science fiction novel, Dune, is realized in epic scale, like we’ve never seen before, in Denis Villeneuve’s incredible film adaptation starring Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, and Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica.

A movie under the stars at the Canada Goose Out There Cinema | TIFF 2021
The Toronto International Film Festival is my favourite event of the year. From the cinematic experiences, to the way the city becomes a meeting place for film makers and film lovers, TIFF always amazes me, and Canada Goose’s Out There Cinema was one of this year’s biggest highlights.

TIFF 2021 welcomes audiences in September with Dune, 100+ films, and cross-Canada screenings
The 46th Toronto International Film Festival returns this September, and the annual celebration of cinema will feature over 100 films, including Denis Villeneuve’s Dune. Perhaps the biggest detail, however, was that in-person screenings and red carpets are also set for a comeback, and TIFF will also screen films across Canada.
Arrival is one of the most elegantly simple, powerful science fiction films in recent memory, and it works so well because, at its heart, Arrival is also a drama with a heartfelt story. Canadian actor Mark O’Brien sat down with me to talk about the iconic film, which is now out on Blu-ray, and to discuss the work of director Denis Villeneuve.
Happy New Year, movie fans. We’re jumping back into Blu-ray reviews this week with a look at Sicario, Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, End of the Tour, The Walk, and True Detective: The Complete Second Season.
Toronto’s streets will be flooded with movie lovers–and movie stars–this September as the 38th Toronto International Film Festival takes over the city from September 5 to 15, and today the festival has announced the full list of filmmakers and celebrities expected for all the red carpet events.
