Landing on home video this week: Rio swoops in with Jesse Eisenberg and Anne Hathaway voicing two rare, lovelorn parrots; Sean Connery stars as a clever monk in the murder mystery The Name of the Rose; and a look at the drama Last Night.
New arrivals in theatres this weekend include: Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides starring Johnny Depp as the one and only Captain Jack Sparrow, hunting this time for the fountain of youth; and the drama Last Night, starring Keira Knightley and Sam Worthington.
This week, opening at a theatre near you: Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg play mismatched partners in the action-comedy, The Other Guys; the dancers are back again in Step Up 3, which also debuts in 3D; and opening in select theatres, Robert Duvall stars in Get Low as a hermit who wants to attend his own funeral.
Spring has sprung, but the home video releases have dried up this week, with just two notable new titles arriving today; Werner Herzog‘s crime drama, Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans, and the B-movie extravaganza, Bitch Slap.
Theatres are packed with new films this week, including the much drooled about vampire teen drama, The Twilight Saga: New Moon; Sandra Bullock‘s family film, The Blind Side; the festival favorite, and already critically acclaimed, Precious; plus the Werner Herzog film, Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans, and the animated comedy, Planet 51.

Excuse my absence, but I’ve been away on vacation for a while. The good news is that I’m back, and I’ve got a little treat for you.
Frank Miller‘s The Spirit doesn’t arrive in theatres until December 25, but we’ve already got an image from the film featuring Eva Mendes as Sand Saref.
Ever since I was a teenager Ghost Rider has been one of my favorite comic book heroes. He has everything it takes to be a great tragic/violent icon–from the flaming skull and the painful past to the fact that he fights against the perfect nemesis, the Devil.
