The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 checks off a lot of boxes for my must-have features in a phone, and while the device is close to a year old, it’s still one of the most impressive phones out there right now, and the price is set to get even better.

Like a lot of people, my phone comes with me everywhere, and it’s my go-to device for capturing the moment. From events, to travel, and heading to the park with my family, my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is my favorite device for photos and video because of its dual cameras, loads of features, and great performance in all kinds of lighting conditions.
Twenty years ago, our vision of the future was pretty spectacular, and obviously way, way off. Where are our jetpacks, hoverboards, flying cars, and robots? What I love though is that the future is starting to look easier and more comfortable, without any of the wacky new gadgets we might have dreamed about. If you want an example of that, just look at the Samsung Connected Home, a space that Samsung Canada set up at their head office to show off the possibilities for a smart and connected home.
Earlier this month I explored San Diego for the first time, thanks to the team at Visit San Diego, and I already can’t wait to go back with my family. The city is right at the end of the California coast, nestled around a beautiful bay with sweeping views, numerous beaches, and a lot of nearby attractions.
Look at where a year took us! At the start of 2017, it seemed like 2016 was going to be hard to top. In 2016 I visited Hong Kong, L.A. for Hamilton Watch’s Behind the Camera Awards, and I had a lot of really incredible interviews. But 2017 topped all of my expectations.
Hand me a new cell phone to try, and I’ll probably end up playing with the camera within a few minutes–it’s my go-to feature because first and foremost I love taking pictures. The technology on mobile devices has also come a long way in the last five years, and they now offer impressive options compared to a standard camera. So when I had the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 to play with for a month, I ended up shooting a lot of photos and videos–over 1300 photos, and close to an hour of video.
