Joel Kinnaman and Corey Stoll on Imperfect Women and the juicy drama | Interview

by W. Andrew Powell

Imperfect Women is Apple TV’s suspenseful, simmering, and bold new drama about friendship, betrayal, love, and ultimately, guilt.

Based on Araminta Hall’s novel of the same name, the series stars Elisabeth Moss, Kerry Washington–who are also executive producers–and Kate Mara, alongside Joel Kinnaman and Corey Stoll.

The series is juicy, the relationships are complicated, and the deeper you go, the darker the story gets. For all that drama and darkness, the two actors loved making it, and how it was led by an almost all female team.

“It was such a treat to get to come on board and just to step on the set… both the actors and the actor-producers and the directors and DP [director of photography] were all women,” Kinnaman said. “They put a lot of energy into making the set feel really warm, so it was a really happy crew and a happy set to step onto… [I had this] big smile on my face all day shooting the show.”

For every dark turn in the script, Stoll was impressed by the scripts, and especially the integrity of the characters.

“I’ve played–over the last few years–a lot of guys in suits with a lot of money [and] a lot of power, and it’s fun, but it was nice to come from the other side,” Stoll said about playing Howard, the family guy in the story.

“But both of these guys are dealing with an incredible sense of inadequacy and also a lot of power, and you know that’s a really dangerous combination.”

The series is full of twists and turns, and in particular, wait until you catch the surprises in episodes four and five.

New episodes of Imperfect Women arrive Wednesdays on Apple TV, and tune in for the season finale on April 29, 2026. Watch the full interview at the top of the story.
