by Rhiannon M. Kirkland

The SummerWorks Performance Festival has announced the selection of their 2013 artists in residence: Sook-Yin Lee, Benjamin Kamino and Adam Litovitz. Led by broadcaster, filmmaker, musician and actor Sook-Yin Lee, the trio will spend their three-week residency working on their performance piece How Can I Forget? The work was originally made as part of a partnership with the 2013 Rhubarb Festival.

How Can I Forget? focuses on the relationship between forgetting and remembering. It includes original video and photography as well as a soundtrack that includes different versions of the same song reflecting the paradoxical nature of memory.

During their three-week residency the trio will have the opportunity to work with a director.

How Can I Forget? will run on Friday August 9, Saturday August 10, and Sunday August 11 at the Lower Ossington Theatre.

Another of Lee’s works will be at the SummerWorks Summer Soirée on June 21. Called Four Words, it is an experimental piece featuring Max Chandler and Stephanie Southmayd.

Founded in 1991 SummerWorks is Canada’s largest juried performance festival. The 2013 festival runs from August 8 to 18.
