Doctors Without Borders

The holidays are a time for giving and sharing, and that’s why we start our Holiday Gift Guides every year with a featured charity. This year, we want readers to know more about Doctors Without Borders.

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), or Doctors Without Borders, is a charity organization of doctors, nurses, and professionals working to provide emergency medical humanitarian care to people affected by conflicts and epidemics, to disasters, or healthcare needs that are not being addressed already. They’re a vital group doing incredible, meaningful work around the world.

“We provide assistance based on need, regardless of ethnicity, gender, religion or political affiliation. We also speak out about the suffering we witness while carrying out our work.”

In 2022 MSF provided 16,272,300 outpatient consultations, they treated 4,268,600 malaria cases, and they administered 4,124,700 vaccinations against measles in response to an outbreak.

Most importantly, they are dedicated to working impartially, with neutrality, independence, and ethically. Doctors Without Borders is highly rated, they provide clear financial transparency, and for every dollar they raise they have a high demonstrated impact.

“All human beings are equally susceptible to suffering and no one should be deprived of the medical care they need. Being impartial means we deliver free medical care to people who need it, giving priority to those in the most serious and immediate danger. It means we do not discriminate according to nationality, race, gender, identity, religious beliefs, class, political opinion or any other affiliation.”
