Christee Palace’s new single, “What Have You Done To Me”

“What Have You Done To Me” is Christee Palace’s stylish and sultry new single. The moody and evocative song sets a tone that’s dark, but lush, and Palace blurs genres with a story a lot of people will find very relatable.

“I like to think of my new single as a literal nightmare,” Palace said. “When people listen to it, you can immediately tell by the music just what kind of emotions I must have been feeling when I wrote it. This is a dark, haunting song about someone who changed my life forever, and not for the better. This is a never-ending trap of love and lust that always let me down, but for some reason, I always come back to it.”

“Why? I think we all have that one person in our hearts that you just can’t forget about, no matter how much you know you should. I knew that I wanted the music to match my emotions, and every time I hear this song, I am brought right back to this person.”

Palace grew up with music, thanks to her father Pete Palazzolo, who’s a multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, producer and teacher. And to date, Palace has earned over half a million streams, she won the Jim Beam National Talent Search in 2019, and her singles have ranked on Canada’s Most Active Indies charts. Most recently, Palace also released two Christmas covers.

Like a lot of artists, 2020 was difficult for Palace though.

“This last year has been so incredibly difficult in so many ways,” she said. “Obviously with no live shows, it feels like a huge piece of my life is missing. That was my favourite way to showcase my art, and get to know new fans. It has been heartbreaking, but the bright side of this is that the music will just never stop.”

“In ways it has inspired me to write deeply personal songs that I probably may have never written. It has challenged me to figure out new ways of promoting myself and getting my music out to new listeners. There’s always a silver lining. I am lucky to have a team that has continued with my project and made it possible for me to continue creating. “
