Charming and heartfelt in ways that most people wouldn’t associate with a Transformers movie, Bumblebee won’t be confused by anyone for high art or essential viewing, but it’s a pleasant enough blockbuster prequel that will please family members of all ages equally.

This is my post-Super Bowl tradition: I rush online after the game and find the ads we didn’t get to see here in Canada. Inevitably it’s a sad search because, let’s face it, there are some great ads out there, but there are a lot more terrible ones from companies who have products to shill, but no great concepts to sell them with.
Word on the street tonight is that Megan Fox will not be returning for Transformers 3, and there are also rumors that it was the studio’s choice (although there are also stories claiming Fox’s publicist says it’s the other way around).
New this week on home video, Michael Bay‘s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen blasts its way onto DVD and Blu-ray; high school turns a little noir in the comedy Assassination Of A High School President; Nazi zombies take over the hills in the Indie horror film Dead Snow; plus a look at The Transformers – complete cartoon series, It’s Garry Shandling’s Show, and Waterworld on Blu-ray.
Opening this week, Optimus Prime and his Autobots are back for more in the big-budget action adventure, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Also opening, two sisters face life bound together as one suffers from leukemia and the other is forced to donate a kidney to save her life in My Sister’s Keeper.
Arriving this week on DVD and Blu-ray, Joshua Jackson stars as a wayward soul in the drama, One Week. Also out, Jason Voorhees returns to the screen in a glossy remake of Friday the 13th, the first season of the animated Transformers series lands on DVD, plus, Ghostbusters and Dr. Strangelove both come out on Blu-ray.
