Giveaway: Breville Barista Express espresso machine

by W. Andrew Powell
Breville Barista Express

You could be waking up to café quality coffee, right at home. The GATE is thrilled to announce that we’re giving away a Breville Barista Express espresso machine thanks to Breville Canada, and we’ve got a few tips to help make the best possible cup of coffee.

Breville has a range of tips and videos to help you make the most of your coffee experience, but it starts with four key things:

  • Exceptional freshly roasted espresso beans
  • The perfect grind
  • Just the right temperature
  • And the right technique, especially for steaming milk

When it comes to the key ingredient, having the best beans is the key, and finding your favorite flavour will come with experience, but almost everything else about a great espresso or cappuccino is all about the machine, and that’s where the Breville Barista Express makes the difference.

The Breville Barista Express has a built-in grinder that holds ½ lb of beans in its hopper, for up to 25 shots of fresh espresso, and a stainless steel conical burr grinder for the perfect grind. The real art behind the Barista Express is in the machine’s temperature and pressure control though, which pulls the best espresso each and every time. The Barista Express also allows you to adjust the water temperature to help you get the exact results that you want, and it has presets for 1- and 2-cup shots, a manual over-ride, and re-programmable settings.

Plus, the machine has lots of simple extras: it removes excess water from the filter basket for easy coffee puck disposal, there’s a dedicated hot water outlet, and, naturally, a cup warming tray.

Show your love and share the giveaway with the #BrevilleCafeQuality hashtag, and give a shout out to @TheGATE and @BrevilleCanada on Twitter. And watch for our full review of the Barista Express, including photos and video.

I just watched the video. That is one heck of a machine. I had a Capresso which was very basic, but lasted for years and poured a great cup. I had to retire it last year. It just couldn’t build pressure properly anymore. The Breville would make a lovely replacement machine. Thanks for the chance!
