Listen: Natalie Shay’s “Owe It To You”

“Owe It To You” is Natalie Shay’s retro, foot-stomping pop song that’s going to get stuck in your head.

With just a hint of old-school pop, the track feels like it comes from the heart, about being stuck between a relationship and the temptation of another lover.

The single is the North London singer’s latest from her upcoming EP, Naked, and I love the mood, the beat, and Shay’s emotive vocals.

“I love authentic 80s synth and drum sounds, but I also love modern pop vocal lines and effects,” Shay said about the EP. “And of course lots of guitars. I try to include a flavour of each of those things in my music. It was very important to me that all of the songs had their own unique stamp and vibe but still all fitted and worked together under the same project”.

So far the 21-year-old has earned hundreds of thousands of streams, and her single “Yesterday” hit on Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist.
