This week, for Fresh Indies Vol. 7, I’ve got six incredible new tracks for you enjoy, spanning old-school R&B, country, folk, and pop music. Featured tracks include Carlos Vara’s “Numb”, Audra Mae’s “Open Arms”, Leah Daniels’ “1st”, Towne’s “Let Me Let You Go”, Stephen Babcock’s “Atlanta”, and “Dancing” by Slow Skies.
Vancouver’s Derrival teamed up with Shades of Blue actor and Disney star Sarah Jeffery for their single “Ghosts Of Our Past”, and the lively pop ballad is massively catchy, with an electric crescendo that features fantastic harmonies.
Fresh Indies returns this week with six new songs: Sam Woolf and the Como Brothers’ “On It”, Mahalia’s “Proud Of Me” featuring Little Simz, James Sayer’s “Givin’ it All For Free”, Femke’s “Four Letter Word”, “Like You Like That” by L Devine, and “Hold Your Kite” by GoldFish & Sorana.
Edmonton’s Scenic Route To Alaska are set to release their new LP, Tough Luck, in March, but until then “How It Feels” sets the scene with a “no holds barred” video inside the wrestling ring.
Iskwé released her single the “The Unforgotten” this month, featuring Canadian icon Tanya Tagaq, and the track is an inspiring, and darkly rousing call for understanding, unity, and respect. Blending Indigenous, rock, and electro pop music, “The Unforgotten” is moving and textured, and driven by Iskwé beautiful, rising vocals.
The Singer and The Songwriter released their single “Wild Heart” recently, and the video is mesmerizing and stunning. From their EP Directions, the song celebrates the stories of women, and features urban dance team, The Company, with videography by LA’s Vibrvncy.
There is nothing quite like a heart-felt acoustic single, and Joe Dolman’s “Close To Home” is tender, and sweet, and ultimately a sad, but uplifting song that has a message. “Just give me one more moment, keep your arms open, I know it seems it, but I’m not broken…” he sings, and it’s not hard to hear the painful side of the song for Dolman.
This week in Fresh Indies volume 5, I’ve picked six new singles from a diverse mix of international artists, including PLYA’s “Adrenaline”, “Unreachable” from Sidibe, Fann & Dave Audé’s “Shiny Things”, Bruno Martini’s “With Me” featuring Zeeba, Jeff LeBlanc’s “Way You Are”, and “Fortaleza” by Hanging Valleys.
This is easily one of my favorite tracks of so faar in 2018, and it’s going to be a hard one to top. LCAW’s “Hummingbird” features the stunning vocals of Sophie Ellis-Bextor, with a fun, fresh beat that will get your hips moving. “Hummingbird” is an addictive new single from LCAW’s debut Meet in the Middle EP, which arrives in March.
Musical power couple Kyle and Melissa are Footwerk, a UK meets US indie pop act that just debuted their new single and brand new EP, “Retrograde”.
