Backyard cooking with the Cuisinart Gourmet Outdoor Oven

by W. Andrew Powell

Cooking in your back yard is something of a summer ritual in Canada, and over the last few years it has evolved drastically with new gadgets, appliances, and furniture. One of this year’s great innovations brings a new dimension to backyard cooking as Cuisinart builds on the growing demand for unique BBQs with their new Outdoor Oven.

The Cuisinart Gourmet Outdoor Oven retails for $1299 at Canadian Tire, and it’s a fresh upgrade from working with your average gas-powered BBQ.

Want to make bread, a side of roast beef, or even pizza? The Outdoor Oven has you covered, and the large cooking space lets you cook more than one thing at once.

The Cuisinart Gourmet Outdoor Oven uses wood, and also features a unique design that lets you control the heat without opening the oven. The oven also has solid, cast-iron doors, a stainless steel interior, two stainless steel grills and a ceramic baking stone, plus a smoker box for adding an extra kick of flavour to your cooking.

While the price tag may be a bit steep, the Outdoor Oven is made to last, and with the proper care should keep you cooking for years to come.
