The Help took home top film honours at the 18th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, which celebrated 2011’s best performances from movies and television on Sunday, January 29, with appearances by some of the biggest names in the industry.
Winning for Outstanding Performance By A Cast In A Motion Picture was The Help, while Modern Family won for Ensemble In A Comedy Series, and Boardwalk Empire was recognized for Ensemble In A Drama Series. Other winners included Christopher Plummer for Supporting Role in Beginners, with Jean Dujardin for The Artist and Viola Davis for The Help winning best Male and Female in Leading Roles, respectively.
The 2011 Life Achievement Award was presented by Dick Van Dyke to legendary actress Mary Tyler Moore, who received a standing-ovation from the group of stars.
