Creemore Springs’ Oktoberfest at Blue Mountain Village returns September 21

by W. Andrew Powell

One of my favourite events in southwestern Ontario returns on Saturday, September 21 at Blue Mountain Village, and there will be beer, food, and fantastic festivities once again at Creemore Springs‘ Oktoberfest at Blue.

Celebrity emcee Christian Potenza will host the event at the Blue Mountain Village plaza, tapping the ceremonial keg, and leading a day of German-inspired food at Creemore Springs Biergarten.

Creemore will celebrate with a special Oktoberfest Lager, brewed in honour of the event, and there will be traditional live music, dancing, games, and did I mention excellent, excellent food?

Rusty’s at Blue, Firehall Pizza, MJ Byrne’s, and Copper Blues will all participate in Oktoberfest at Blue, highlighting German-inspired dishes and beer specials all afternoon.

As well, one of my favourite places at Blue Mountain, Oliver & Bonacini Café Grill at Westin Trillium House Blue Mountain, will once again host a Beer 101 session at 1:00 PM, with samples of unique beer and food pairings and a commemorative stein for just $40, plus tax. Last year, Beer 101 was a major highlight at the event for me, and the dishes were excellently matched with some incredible beer from Creemore and Batch.

To get the most out of the event, I recommend arriving on Friday afternoon, September 20, checking into the fantastic Westin Trillium House Blue Mountain, and staying until Sunday. That means you can park you car on Friday night, and enjoy the food and festivities on Saturday all day long.

There are also lots of other activities to enjoy at Blue Mountain, whether you ride the gondola and hike the mountain, try some rock wall climbing, or adventure onto the Ridge Runner Mountain Coaster.
