TIFF 13: A look inside Tastemakers Lounge

Movies and moviemaking are at the heart of the Toronto International Film Festival. You can’t have films though without stars and celebrities, and when they roll into town, that also means lots and lots of parties. To get those celebrities ready to party, there are a lot of gift lounges during the festival, but one of the longest-running, and most interesting, is the Tastemakers Lounge.

Running with the slogan “Need it Now” for 2013, Tastemakers Lounge includes piles of goodies and stylish swag for the guys and the girls. There are accessories from Alto Collective, bobble’s reusable water bottles, totes designed by Jessica Jensen for VISA, Seventh Generation cleaning products, and maybe my favorite for TIFF, AWAKE Chocolate — chocolate bars that have the equivalent of 2 cups of coffee in them (which is personally my “Need it Now” during the festival).

Launched nine years ago by co-founders Debra Goldblatt-Sadowski and Leesa Butler, I had the chance to tour the gifting lounge with Butler. Watch the video below to see all the swag that they’re handing out this year, and some of the products celebrities get to take home.
