The end of the year is here, and with very little to tell you about in the way of new releases, I thought I’d take a look back at 2007 and remind you of some of this year’s best DVDs. Hundreds of films have made their way to stores this year, but I’ve narrowed the list down to 20 of the most notable releases.
This week at a theatre near you, one man fights to survive a world filled with vampires, Alvin and his chipmunk friends bust out some tunes, a teenager deals with her unplanned pregnancy, and a best-selling book gets the big-screen treatment.
This week on store shelves: Harry Potter and his school chums try to take on the evil Lord Voldemort, Jason Bourne is coming to America, High School Musical 2 arrives, and you can find the Lost castaways on DVD.
Coming to a theatre near you this week, an epic fantasy pushes a young girl into battle to save existence, Keira Knightley stars in another period romance, John Cusack plays a father trying to connect with his children, Guy Ritchie‘s latest gangs and guns film arrives, and Leelee Sobieski pretends to be a dominatrix.
This week at a store near you, take a look at the latest DVDs, including the return of Captain Jack Sparrow, a night to remember for two awkward teenagers, and a nanny’s adventures in Manhattan.
Films arriving this week include another creepy Stephen King tale, an action adventure about a hitman, the story of a young man’s musical search for his parents, the modern tale of a princess in Manhattan, a family Christmas movie, and the dysfunctional relationship between two sisters.
When I first heard about Mass Effect, I have to admit that I wasn’t really that excited. Another space epic from BioWare? You can customise your player, just like in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic?
In stores this week, John McClane fights to survive a new villain, a quirky musical casts John Travolta as a woman, an angel comes to earth to save a troubled man, and a drama paints a vivid tale of real-life survival.
New this week, at a theatre near you: English literature’s oldest hero arrives on the big screen, a magical toy shop goes crazy, a man waits a lifetime for his true love, Margot deals with her family issues, and a new drama makes a commentary on the Iraq war.
This week on DVD: Shrek is back for another adventure, Ocean’s crew sets their sights on a Vegas casino again, a British politician commits his life to fighting slavery, and two classic films arrive in new special editions sets.
